Overview of Organization: 

Founded in 1979, the USHCC actively promotes the economic growth and development of our nation’s entrepreneurs. The USHCC advocates on behalf of nearly 4.1 million Hispanic-owned businesses, that together contribute in excess of $661 billion to the American economy, each year. As the leading organization of its kind, the USHCC serves as an umbrella to more than 200 local chamber and business associations across the nation, and partners with more than 250 major corporations.

Job Overview: 

As a Government Affairs & Policy Intern for the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, you will work to address a broad range of issues that affect the Hispanic business community and become familiar with government functions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the strategy, development and execution of the Annual Legislative Summit
  • Organize and coordinate communications with members of Congress, government officials, corporate business leaders, member affiliates (Corporate Partner
  • Members/Hispanic Business Enterprises), and members of the national and local press
  • Draft press releases to be distributed to news sources and media outlets
  • Perform research and analysis on public policy, legislation, and studies in order to effectively communicate them to members of staff, the President & CEO and business affiliates
  • Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls and emails, and preparing staff members and the President & CEO for meetings
  • Coordinate and schedule events and meetings

Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of USHCC Legislative Agenda
  • Ability to multi-task and work at a quick pace
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work well with others

Hours Per Week: 40
