DISTRICT 114 REPRESENTATIVE IN THE FLORIDA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
- Representative Flores is the first Republican Hispanic Woman to serve in the Florida House since 1986. As a State Representative, she is currently the Chairperson of the K-12 Education Committee and sits on the Schools and Learning Council as well as the Committee on Constitution and Civil Law and the Committee on Utilities and Telecommunications.
- She authored the First General Scholarship to support the education of undergraduate students with financial need who are first in their families to attend college. Through this matching grant Program, the total contribution raised for FIU exceeded $1.6 million. The total funding benefiting state universities was $6.5 million.
- She currently serves on The Honors College Community Advisory Board.
- Rep. Flores has been nominated for the Distinguished Honors College Alumna Award, which will be presented as part of the FIU Torch Awards.
- Rep. Flores graduated with a BA in Political Science and International Relations from Florida International University, during which time she was also enrolled in The Honors College. She then received a J.D. from the University Of Florida College Of Law.
- Rep. Flores was hired by the Florida House of Representatives to work in the Education Council, and was later hired by Governor Jeb Bush as his Education Policy Chief.
- Along with State Representative Carlos Lopez-Cantera, Representative Flores has been challenged to write a book, entitled 100 Innovative Ideas for Florida’s Future, which will outline their vision of the future for the state.
- She has volunteered to mentor students at FIU through its Student Government Association, the FIU Center for Leadership, as well as the FIU Hallmark Education Leadership Enhancement Program.
