| Christina M. Ceballos-Levy, JD ‘97
An attorney at Kenny, Nachwalter, Seymour, Arnold, Critchlow & Spector, P.A., Honors College alumna Christina Ceballos-Levy graduated summa cum laude in 1997 with a degree in English. She continued onto the University of Miami where she earned a Juris Doctorate, also graduating summa cum laude. There, she was a member of the Order of the Coif, a national honor society for law schools students, and the Executive Editor of the University of Miami Law Review. In 2000, she was appointed to the Florida Bar.
As a member of the Honors College Community Advisory Board since 2003, Ceballos-Levy has been an advocate for the growth of the College beyond the local community. “As long as The Honors College continues to attract the best and brightest [students] from everywhere, not limited to county, state or national boundaries, the College will continue to succeed, as its alumni spread the word about it globally,” she said. Her positive experience as an undergraduate student in Honors, along with her appreciation for Dean Ivelaw Griffith’s contributions to the College, has kept Ceballos-Levy motivated to remain involved. This past spring, as the keynote speaker for the Honors College Awards Assembly, she addressed the graduating class with an inspirational and challenging talk.
Ceballos-Levy has published several articles in the University of Miami Law Review and is an instructor at the University Of Miami School Of Law. She is a member of the Florida Bar International Arbitration and Litigation Committee, the Young Leaders Division of the Dade County Bar, and the Cuban American Bar Association. She has recently been appointed to the Local Rules Committee for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Her teaching position at the University of Miami Law School has been in the Comparative Law LLM (Master of Laws) program. Her legal practice is focused on professional malpractice defense on behalf of attorneys and law firms, securities litigations, class action defense, and other matters of complex commercial litigation. This past year Ceballos-Levy helped to judge the FIU College of Law competitions, hearing appellate arguments delivered by FIU law students. Impressed by the caliber of the students, she was thrilled to learn that FIU College of Law graduated its first class on May 21, 2005. Most recently, she was awarded the 2005 FIU Alumni Torch Award for her numerous contributions to The Honors College.
