The Honors College Student Ambassador Program allows Honors College students to strive for excellence with honors in both academic endeavors as well as in leadership and professional development.
This program was started in the Fall of 2005 with the purpose of providing Honors College students the opportunity to interact closely with FIU administration, distinguished alumni, and visiting dignitaries.
What is great about the Honors College Student Ambassador Program is that it illustrates the multi-dimensional nature of the Honors College as an Honors College Ambassador plays the role of a peer-mentor, student leader, as well as a professional scholar. Moreover, since the program is tailored to meet the needs of Honors College students that want to get the most from their undergraduate experience at FIU, the program provides workshops which focus on capitalizing on one’s own leadership strengths and allows one a myriad of opportunities to apply this knowledge.
Examples of events which require Honors College Student Ambassadors are the Torch Awards, which not only recognizes an FIU Honors College Alumni but also Honors Fellows; FIU Open House, where one is able to share advice and experience with incoming first years; as well as backstage access to the Honors College Convocation and countless more inspiring events.
To be an Honors College Student Ambassador one must be willing to grow beyond the classroom and share one’s panther pride with others!
