ANNUAL CONVOCATION STUDENT CONTEST
Submission Deadline: September 20, 2007
The time has come once again to enter The Annual Honors College Convocation contest. The Annual Honors College Convocation contest is a showcase of student and faculty projects that exemplify excellence. All Honors College students are encouraged to submit work produced within or outside the College.
Entries may include but need not be limited to:
- Creative writing (poetry, creative prose,
critique papers, short stories, personal/journalistic essay etc)
- Art (2-D/3-D, photography, paintings, oil,
acrylics, water color, drawings, pastels, colored pencils, charcoal, ink,
sculptures, computer generated art etc)
- Audio-visual (videography, multimedia/photoshop,
website design etc)
- Research based papers or projects should be submitted to S.R.A.I.
Guidelines for Convocation Contest:
- All entries should be submitted to Sachin Gursahani no later that 5 p.m. on September 20, 2007. Entries are limited to three per category however; the entrant can
participate in any number of categories.
- The Annual Convocation Student Application form can be downloaded from The Honors College website: http://www.fiu.edu/~honors/convocation.
- Names/categories must be clearly printed on the
application forms only. Entries without names/categories will be
disqualified.
- Written work and audio -visual entries must only be submitted electronically to gursahan@fiu.edu, with the
email subject being the title of your work.
- Photograph entries must be framed and/ or matted (exhibition-ready). Digital photo
files will not be accepted. For digital photographs, printed copies must
be submitted. Matting can enhance or detract from the work of art and must
be carefully prepared.
- Art work must be ready for display. (Ready to hang
with wire, framed etc). If the art work is abstract in design, please
indicate on the back side which side is up with arrows.
- Use tag board, mat board, poster board or construction paper for matting. Wooden or metal
frames may be used. Frames for Art work must be kept
simple and sturdy as possible.
- Matting can enhance or detract from the work of
art and must be carefully prepared.
- Entrants submitting large artwork, experimental
apparatus, design models and other unwieldy entries will be responsible
for transporting such works to the Graham Center Ballroom and back on
Convocation Day to ensure their safety and proper setup.
- All entries must be picked up from Graham Center
Ballrooms immediately after the Convocation. The Honors College will not
be held responsible for lost, stolen or discarded items after the
Convocation.
- All entrants will be required to attend Convocation.
