Study and Research Center Guidelines
 

This room (GL 310A) is used for quiet study and research by students in The Honors College. The room will be available during library operating hours, unless notified otherwise.

If you wish to gain card access to the study and research center please fill out the access form, located at http://honors.fiu.edu/studyroom.htm. Please allow two weeks for processing.


If you need to print a document, please do so in the designated printing areas in the second or fifth floors.

Students must adhere not only to the rules listed, but also to the guidelines and policies of the FIU Library.

Please Do:

  • Swipe you Panther ID card. Each student must use their card to enter.
  • Place library materials on book trucks found outside the room for reshelving by library staff.
  • Restore the chair, monitor, keyboard, and mouse to their normal position.
  • Bring your own diskettes, zips, flash memory cards, and discs to save work, and your personal headphones to listen to any content.
  • Set pagers and cellular phones on vibrate mode and take calls outside the Center and designated quiet areas in the library.
  • Respect the privacy of other students using the Center.
  • Consult the Library Systems Department in GL 391 or call 305-348-3127 if you experience difficulty with Center hardware or software.

Please Don’t:

  • Allow non-Honors College students into study and research center.
  • Bring food into the Center. Drinks must be contained in spill proof containers.
  • Download, install, or duplicate any prohibited or copyrighted material on the computers.
  • Use Center network resources for illegal or immoral purposes.
  • Play computer games and instant messaging in the Center.

The Honors College reserves the right to block off time for departmental use of the study room at any time; when this occurs, activities will be posted ahead of time to notify students.
