The Honors College is inviting applications for the Lucille E. Snaith Memorial Honors College Scholarship. The scholarships are open to all eligible Honors College students; however, preference will be given to incoming freshmen. The scholarships will be in the amount of $2500.00 for the 2009-2010 academic year and will be renewed each year provided that the recipients remain full‑time Honors College students in good standing, make satisfactory progress towards a bachelor's degree, maintain a 3.3 cumulative GPA at FIU, and that funds are available in the Endowment.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- Entering or current Honors College student (preference is given to entering freshmen);
- Outstanding academic performance in high school/college;
- U.S. Citizenship;
- Legal residency in Miami-Dade or Broward County;
- Financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office;
- Evidence of motivation, good character, leadership potential, and community service.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Write a three-page essay stating your academic and professional goals, including your intended field of study, and explain why you believe you should be selected as the recipient of the scholarship.
- Include a copy of your resume and a copy of your most recent transcripts.
- Download and complete a Financial Aid Form (FAFSA) if you have not already done so, and submit it electronically to the FIU Financial Aid office. An electronic submission allows your form to be processed rapidly.
- Sign and return the application form with your essay, resume, and transcripts to:
