75 elementary school students along with parents, teachers, and administrative staff from three different schools across Miami-Dade County will be visiting FIU every month as part of the Junior Scholars Program led by Education Effect. The Honors College is the curricular and co-curricular partner of Education Effect which will coordinate engaging these students with innovation, leadership, and arts & culture workshops throughout their visit. The Honors College has also partnered with The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU to enrich this program that will see around 300 students on their way to “the golden promise” scholarship.
The first visit occurred on February 16th and the EdgeLab hosted the innovation workshop for the day which consisted of students participating in a circuitry activity as well as an immersive virtual reality experience.
