Incoming Honors freshmen (from left): Justine, Jasmine, and Jacqueline
Young
MIAMI
(July 18, 2007)- Jacqueline,
Justine, and Jasmine Young are joining numerous other elite students
in choosing to attend the Honors College at Florida International University.
The sisters graduated at the top of their class from Freemon High School
in Orlando, FL. Jacqueline earned distinction as the class valedictorian
while Justine and Jasmine were co-salutatorians. "We didn’t
plan for this to happen. We just worked as hard as we could," said
seventeen-year-old Justine.
Jacqueline
and Jasmine will be participating in the FIU USF Medical Education Program
starting in the fall. The sisters plan to major in chemistry and ultimately
pursue careers in medicine, though their chosen fields are distinctly
diferent.
Seventeen-year-old
Justine says that she "...would like to cure cancer" while
her twin, Jacqueline is "...just looking forward to helping those
in need." "Our grandmother, who shares so much of her knowledge
and wisdom with us, is a diabetic. I’d like to help her and others
who need it," stated fourteen-year-old Jasmine in a group interview
with the new Golden Panthers.
The sisters are
excited about joining the Honors College and FIU community. “Now
that we’re here, we’re certain that FIU was the right choice,”
said Jasmine.
