
MIAMI (February
07, 2008)- Consul General of Jamaica C.P. Ricardo Allicock,
a former Honors College Advisory Board member, will be speaking on "The
Role of Diasporas on Development" during the Honors College Colloquium
on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 12:30PM in Graham Center 243.
C.P.Ricardo Allicock
has served as the Consul General of Jamaica to the Southern United States
since September 2002. Prior to this assignment, he served as Advisor
to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Advisor in Human Rights Affairs
and Director of the Jamaicans Overseas Department. Previously, Mr. Allicock
was engaged in the Jamaican and United States private sector, working
primarily in the publishing and financial services industries.
Mr. Allicock
holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Mercy College and
a Master of Arts in International Political Economy and Development
from Fordham University. He currently serves as Chairman of the CARICOM
Consular Corps of Miami, Honorary Chairman of the Jamaica USA Chamber
of Commerce, and Vice Dean of the Consular Corps of Miami. Mr. Allicock
is married and has two children.
