
MIAMI (September23, 2009) – The Honors College and its BBC student organization, Tau Sigma Alpha, present “A Conversation with Edwidge Danticat.” The award-winner author will be discussing her work on Wednesday, September 30, at 5:30 PM, at the Mary Ann Wolfe Theater at FIU Biscayne Bay Campus. The Miami-based writer has received numerous awards for her work, which focuses primarily on Haiti and Haitian culture. This week she received the highly prestigious MacArthur Foundation “Genius Award,” which comes with an unrestricted prize of $500,000. She has also won the National Book Critics Circle Award, the American Book Award and the Pushcart Short Story Award. Danticat is the author of eight books, including Breath, Eyes, Memory; Krik? Krak!; The Dew Breaker; The Farming of Bones; and her most recent, Brother, I’m Dying.
