T
he Honors College program, "Continuity of Spanish Culture", at Florida International University, presents a mix of different subjects — culture, history, politics, economics, movie and television studies, and journalism— concerned with contemporary Spain.  The course provides the relevant information to understand Spain in its own cultural context and as a member of the Europe Union.  The contrast between traditional and modern culture, as consolidated in the EU, catches the students' attention and enables them to comprehend that tradition and modernity are totally compatible concepts.  The students participate in this intensive program and at the same time enjoy learning about Spain, not only through text books, but by living, seeing, and listening on site.

Never before in my life did the words "learn" and "fun" mix as well as they did on my recent trip to Spain with the Honors College. Witnessing certain things first hand is the best ways to truly learn. Traveling is the perfect route to achieve this and it can become the best classroom. Spain, however, was a different experience from all my previous travels. We learned about the country and experienced the culture with our own adventures through town. Also, this trip gave me a chance to get to know some professors as people rather than lecturers. Most of all I left Spain with memories and friends that I will never forget.
