FIU Virtual Wine Tasting Event: Bringing Napa to You!

Please join us for this special virtual event. You will enjoy award-winning wine and learn from a wine tasting expert while in the comfort of your home and in the virtual company of friends, panthers, and fellow wine lovers.

You must register by November 18 to ensure wine package delivery before this event.

When you select a wine package, net proceeds will benefit the FIU Honors College Dean's Advisory Board Scholarship Fund and deserving students.

The following four wine packages (Panther, Blue, Gold, and Platinum) were specifically curated for participants of this virtual event. During our virtual wine tasting, we will specifically be tasting the 2 bottles from the Panther Package, which are also included in the other wine packages. The wine experts from Stags’ Leap are happy to answer questions about the wines in our other three packages at the conclusion of the formal wine tasting program. Meet the FIU Honors College Dean's Advisory Board Scholarship Recipients

Rafael Columbie
As a husband, father, student, and amputee, I am often burdened with constant medical bills due to the chronic and permanent nature of my condition. This makes financing my education all the more difficult. It is only due to the generosity of others that I am able to pursue an education. The Dean's Advisory Board Scholarship has given me the ability to finance my education worry free for another year. I am thus truly honored to have been named a recipient of the Deans Advisory Board Scholarship and I can only hope to live up to the expectations of those who have deemed me worthy of such an honor.

Daniela Guerra
Daniela Guerra is a rising junior with a double major in Biological Sciences and Liberal Studies. Daniela was born in New Jersey, but she was raised in Venezuela her entire life. Due to the political and economic crisis that Venezuela is undergoing, she emigrated four years ago. Since then, she started her junior year in Felix Varela Senior High School and graduated Magna Cum Laude in her class. She continued her education by being part of the FIU family, and she is expecting to graduate in Spring 2021. Daniela is a full-time student that has part-time job in the FIU Graduate Nursing Department. She is involved in organizations such as Alternative Breaks, Tri-Beta Honor Society, and STITCH which provide her opportunities to give back to the community. She also volunteers in the Emergency Department at Jackson South Medical Center and she enjoys participating in events such as Adopt a Road, Light the Night Walk, and Relay for Life. One of her biggest dreams is traveling to third world countries in order to help underserved communities. In five years, she visualizes herself in medical school, working on culminating her career and starting her specialization to become a future cardiologist.

James Hunt
My name is James Hunt and I am a senior psychology major at Florida International University's Honors College. Being born and raised about a mile from the University, it is a pleasure to be a proud Panther. I am hoping to continue my education in the psychiatric medical field upon graduation and feel the experiences that the honor's program offers will prepare me for this exciting chapter in my life. I'm currently employed for the Dade County Public Schools as a math instructor and athletic coach for the varsity football team at Coral Reef Senior High. Aside from that, this will be my sixth year as a volunteer head coach for the Kendall Boy's and Girl's Club. This is a very rewarding due to the ability to contribute to our community as well as teaching our youth the sport of football in a fun and safe manner. My personal interests include keeping aquariums and playing with music as a hobby. I look forward to becoming more involved with the activities offered at FIU Honor's College.

Kimberly Joseph
Kimberly Joseph is a 4th year senior double majoring in psychology and liberal studies. She is also taking up a certificate in Haitian Studies to learn more about her culture and background. She is a single mother to a beautiful 4 year old daughter while also being an honors college student. Kimberly participate in extracurricular activities such as being president of the Association of Pre-Physician Assistants organization. She is a hard working individual and has shown grit through all the work she had done throughout the years being at Florida International University. She hopes to attend graduate school to obtain a masters in physician assistant studies after graduation.

Victoria Martinez
My name is Victoria Martinez, I am a Puerto Rican student currently a junior at FIU, majoring in Dietetics and Nutrition on the pre-health track. I’m also the chapter President for MEDLIFE FIU this academic year, which has allowed me to actively make an impact in many underprivileged places, like Peru, Ecuador, and Tanzania. Due to my passion for food and how it impacts our health, I’m also starting a small business at home, using my @vihealthyy platform on Instagram, to provide sweet but healthier alternatives to my community.

Parsa Nilchian
Parsa is an Honors student in the second year of his undergraduate education. Pursuing a B.S. in Biochemistry, Parsa’s long-term career goal is to obtain a Ph.D. to research the biochemical components of neurodegenerative diseases. Since his freshman year, he has participated in research at FIU’s Memory and Development Laboratory. As a participant of the Honors College ARCH thesis program, Parsa is currently investigating the association between default mode network activation and reaction time variability in children with ADHD. Parsa is a co-founder and the secretary of H.Y.P.E, a peer-mentorship program designed for first-generation Honor students, and he serves as secretary for the National Chemical Society. Parsa enjoys to engage with medical patients to learn more about the causes of diseases, so he frequently volunteers at a local hospital. In his leisure time, he enjoys reading novels, cooking, and working out at the gym.

Luciana Pineda
Luciana was born in Colombian and came to the U.S. when she was just five. From a very young age Luciana allowed her curiosity to lead her to the joy of learning and thirst for knowledge. She is currently a junior at FIU pursuing a bachelors in Business Administration in International Business. Luciana is a full time student, she is working to become trilingual by studying Portuguese and is actively exercising the skills she has been taught during her studies abroad with FIU in France and Morocco. Luciana loves to study, plan, organize, and lead people to find their purpose and passion, especially younger generations. For years she has volunteered at her local church as a youth leader mentoring and helping adolescents through it all. Despite her chronic illnesses, she continues to have faith, grow, and strive for a greater future.

Laura Warner
Laura Warner is a senior, studying Sustainability and the Environment at FIU with a minor in Economics. She is a member of the Honors College and has been on the Dean's list since her freshman year. She is also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Born in Miami to Jamaican parents and raised in Dubai UAE, she considers herself to be a global citizen having traveled to over 40 countries. Laura plans to use her education at FIU to affect change in policies and practices that contribute to a more sustainable environment. Laura's ultimate goal is to establish an educational NGO which will transfer knowledge and empower citizens of the developing world to actively participate in the sustainable development of their countries' economy. Words cannot describe the gratitude that my family and I feel for being a recipient of the Dean's Advisory Board Scholarship. Given the uncertainty of the current economic climate on account of the COVID-19 pandemic, this scholarship has provided me with the confidence to complete my education uninterrupted.
