The Political Cycle

The Political Cycle is an interdisciplinary Honors seminar that cuts through the noise and teaches students how American politics actually works. The course examines campaigns, governance, data, communications, media, and advocacy—showing how decisions are made, who influences them, and why outcomes unfold the way they do. Students explore the federal system, voter targeting, polling, lobbying, and the interaction between politics and sectors like health, business, and finance. Through modules on foundations, elections, and governing, paired with applied assignments and real-world analysis, students develop the skills, judgment, and awareness needed to operate effectively in today’s political landscape.
