Welcome New Honors Students!


Congratulations on your admittance to the Honors College! Built around an excellent interdisciplinary curriculum, the College offers outstanding students a long list of opportunities including social and cultural activities, study abroad, exciting internships, and research mentoring.

Remember, students admitted to the Honors College must confirm their spot in the college.

Freshman Students


  • What is an incoming Freshman student?
    • High school seniors admitted for early fall 2025 or fall 2025. Note: Those admitted to spring 2025 will need to apply during the fall 2026 admission cycle.
As an incoming freshman, you will be able to enroll for classes once you have completed Orientation and Advising & Registration Day. Please see the steps below:
  1. Complete the Virtual Orientation
  2. Register for an in-person orientation session
  3. Complete your college credit earned (CCE) form *
  4. Register for Advising & Registration Day
  5. Register for the New Student Workshop
* You will need to complete the CCE form for your Advising & Registration Day. The CCE form is crucial for the Advising & Registration Day, as we want to make sure that you only register for courses you need - and those you have not taken already. Please complete your CCE form as accurately as possible.

Remember in addition to Orientation and Advising & Registration Day honors students must attend the New Student Workshop. Attendance at all three events is required of new Honors College students.

Transfer Students


  • What is an incoming Transfer Student?
    • Students admitted for summer 2025 or fall 2025 who are attending or attended a college/university after graduating high school. Must have at least 2 years remaining in their program of study.
As an incoming transfer, you will be able to enroll for major classes once you have completed Orientation and Advising & Registration Day.

You will be able to enroll for an honors seminar/class once you have completed the New Student Workshop. Attendance at all three events is required of new Honors College students.

Current FIU Students


  • What is a current FIU Student?
    • Degree-seeking students currently enrolled at FIU with at least 2 years remaining in their program of study. Note: This category may include students admitted to spring 2025.

As a current FIU student, you can enroll in an honors seminar/class once you have completed the New Student Workshop. Attendance to the event is required of new Honors College students.

New Student Workshop


Newly admitted Honors students must attend one of our New Student Workshop sessions during the summer.

At this workshop, you will

  • receive detailed information about the Honors curriculum and requirements
  • engage with Honors advisors and staff
  • learn about exciting programs and opportunities exclusively available to Honors College students!

    Note: Entering first-year (freshman) and transfer students must still complete Virtual Orientation, Orientation, and Advising & Registration. 

    Honors College Academic and Registration Information:


    Students who have accepted their admission to the Honors College will be activated as Honors students so that they may register for an Honors course for the Fall semester. Your enrollment date is based on your status (Please see the above information for Freshman, Transfer, and Current FIU students).

    Please keep in mind that admission to the Honors College is for the Fall semester. Therefore, you will not be assigned an Honors advisor until the Fall semester.

    *Newly admitted students to the Honors College will receive Priority Registration for Spring.
