INSTRUCTOR: Gretchen Scharnagl
SCHEDULE: Tuesday, Thursday, 10:00AM – 1:20PM (Summer A)
This class will observe the world around us through an artistic eye. We will look at how artists and scientists have depicted their observations before us. The students will choose from a list of 20 essays written by various authors addressing “green ideas,” such as Greta Thunberg, Timothy Morton, James Lovelock, Rachel Carson and E.O. Wilson and more to inspire ways to tell the stories of our environment. We will identify, record, and share our observations made throughout the semester. Each student will select one creative method to create a narrative of their semester’s experiences and discoveries, including bookmaking, film, animation, comic book, poetry, and more.
