Course Description


This course is designed as both a global learning and an interdisciplinary course. This course will explore trauma, racial violence, and poverty in a struggling community in the U.S. Students will deconstruct urban legends and storytelling that take place in marginalized communities and spaces. This course will use the folklore horror, and urban legends, in the film “Candyman” to uncover the impact of Black history and Black horror. This course will go beyond trauma to embrace the resiliency and the power of Black culture.
