Requirements

To apply to the Honors College at FIU, please complete an online application with all of the appropriate documents listed below:

Incoming Freshmen
  • 3.5 weighted GPA
  • 1260 SAT or 27 ACT
  • 500 word essay (choose 1 of the 3 options)
  • 300 word personal statement “Why I want to join the Honors College”
  • Completed Honors College Application
  • Resumé

 

Automatic Admission
  • Available for Freshmen Only
  • 4.0 weighted GPA, and
    1270 SAT or 27 ACT
  • Must apply at honors.fiu.edu/apply
  • No essay or resume required
Transfer Students
  • 3.3 college GPA
  • 500 word essay (choose 1 of the 3 options)
  • 300 word personal statement “Why I want to join the Honors College”
  • Official transcript from previous institution
  • Completed Honors College Application
  • Resumé
Current FIU Students
  • 3.3 FIU GPA
  • 500 word essay (choose 1 of the 3 options)
  • 300 word personal statement “Why I want to join the Honors College”
  • Completed Honors College Application
  • Resumé

How to Apply

  • Visit: http://honors.fiu.edu/apply
  • You will be redirected to the MyFIU log in screen
  • Use the SAME Panther ID and Password provided for you when you applied to FIU
  • Students must apply to FIU before applying to the Honors College
  • Click on Student Center
  • In your portal page under: Admissions, you will find the link: “Apply to the Honors College”
  • Click link and begin your Honors College application
  • Fill out all necessary information on your profile page
  • Upload required documentation:
    • Personal Statement: “Essay 1”
    • Discussion Essay: Choose and answer one discussion question “Essay 2”
    • Upload your resumé
  • Do not forget to “Submit” your application

The Honors College Important Dates for the 2018-2019 academic year are:

Online Application Available: October 1st
Priority Deadline: January 15
Final Deadline: May 15
