Name: Kayla Jolly

Major: Social work with a minor in history

How long have you been in the Honors College? This is my 3rdyear in the Honors College program.

What’s one interesting fact about you? An interesting fact about me is that I’m obsessed with Power Rangers.

What’s your dream job? My dream job is to work as a social work researcher.

What are your hobbies? My hobbies include playing Dungeons & Dragons, reading, and playing pool.

What is your favorite thing about being a part of the Honors College? My favorite part of the Honors College is the ARCH program, which I hope to take part in next year.

How many engagement points did you acquire during the 2018-2019 academic year? I acquired 47 points.

Did you find achieving that number of engagement points difficult or easy? I found the task fairly easy.

How many events do you estimate that you have been to in order to achieve those engagement points? I went to around 15 events to get that many points.

What is your favorite Honors event that you have attended? My favorite Honors event I attended was watching Les Misérables at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.

What motivates you to be so involved in Honors College events? In high school I was involved in many after school activities, so I feel strange when I’m not super involved in some sort of club or program.

Any advice on how to be more involved for people who have a hard time balancing schoolwork involvement? My advice is to go to events that interest you. Keep a close eye on emails sent to you and follow different FIU clubs and programs on Instagram and other social media. Apply to be a part of a student organization, especially the ones for your major.
