Internships:

• Florida International University partners with a career platform, Handshake, to help offer students remote and on-site internship opportunities.

• Honors-specific opportunities are promoted through our biweekly career newsletter on Wednesdays (be sure to check your FIU email) and through our Instagram every Tuesday. 

IDH 3940 & IDH 3999

The Honors College offers 2 internship courses.

• IDH 3940 (3 credits): Students may choose to complete the honors curriculum by participating in an internship. This structured practical training/work experience must be approved by the Honors College for course credit. In addition, international students must complete the Curricular Practical Training (CPT) application process through International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS).​​

  • Approval is not guaranteed. The internship and GPA will be considered. For international students, approval can still be denied by ISSS.
    
    
• IDH 3999 (0 credit): Students completing an internship may enroll in this zero-credit internship course that does not count towards your upper division requirements but will appear on your FIU transcript.

  • For international students, it is critical you understand that this course is zero-credit and does not count as an internship course toward your CPT application.
  • If you are seeking a credit-bearing internship course, please speak with your major academic advisor to see what options your department has.
  • If your academic department does not offer an internship course for credit, apply to request to enroll in our IDH 3940 course (see above).
  • Approval is not guaranteed. The internship and GPA will be considered.
