First Steps
Depending on your pathway to FIU Honors, there are a few steps you must complete to attend FIU as an Honors student and enroll in your first Honors seminar or class.

New Honors Student Workshop
Newly admitted Honors students must attend one of our New Student Workshops in the Summer. At this workshop, you will:
- Receive detailed information about the Honors curriculum and requirements
- Engage with Honors advisors and staff
- Learn about exciting programs and opportunities exclusively available to Honors College students!
If you have confirmed your spot in the Honors College, you will receive a personalized invitation to our New Student Workshops. Please keep in mind that freshmen and transfer students must also complete a Virtual Orientation, Orientation, and Advising & Orientation.
If you are a first-year (freshman) or transfer student you must still complete a Virtual Orientation, First-year Orientation, and Advising & Registration Day.

Registering for Honors Courses
Students who have accepted their admission to the Honors College will be activated as Honors students so that they may register for an Honors course for the Fall semester. Your enrollment date is based on your status (freshman, transfer, or current student). Newly admitted students to the Honors College will receive Priority Registration for Spring.
FIU Honors students must enroll in at least 12 FIU credits for Fall, including Honors courses. Students in STEP will enroll in 11 credits, including Honors courses.
Please keep in mind that admission to the Honors College is for the Fall semester. Therefore, you will not be assigned an advisor until the Fall semester. Being admitted to the Honors College for Fall will not change the term to which you have been admitted by FIU Admissions.

Sign up for Housing
First-time freshmen can take advantage of Honors housing at Parkview Hall, which provides a safe, supportive environment for you to collaborate and connect with your fellow Honors College students.
