Course Description


The purpose of this course is to provide a foundation of Mujerismo and Chicana/Latina feminist theories as living theories, experienced daily. The course readings will provide insights on how Chicana/Latina feminism and mujerismo are part of ordinary daily life and how theory helps us understand identity at a deeper level. This course is intended to set a foundation that will help students understand their own identities and epistemological standpoints and how those affect their life purpose, academic and professional paths. The course will center on the significance of applying theory to everyday life because Mujerista and Chicana/Latina feminist theories are living theories’ originating in the everyday lives of women. We will explore the magic and power of the ordinary in daily life.
