The Uncomfortable Truth: The City of Miami

The city of Miami is known for its high rise apartments stunning beaches and multicultural diversity. However the city is cursed with unaffordable housing lack of adequate infrastructure and sea level rising. Due to this homelessness has become a large problem in the city as a result of racial inequality and lack of affordable housing and adequate social services. This lecture series will serve as a tool to educate the FIU student body on the other side of Miami the side that has been masked over by tourism and gentrification. This event will be a two hour event where students will have an opportunity to hear the uncomfortable truth from Miami advocates and have an opportunity to ask and engage with the speakers and fellow students.
