Biography
Scharnagl’s research includes environmental and social concepts, materialism and eco-materialism, and a passion for alternative media. The form ranges from small found papers to large collage, non-traditional sculpture, and installation. Her practice has also included ephemeral and edible art. Gretchen Scharnagl has two daughters practicing in the biological sciences. The eldest is an Honors College alumni.
All in person and online live classes taught by Scharnagl recognize the profound importance of creativity, innovation, research, and historic context of whatever subject is being addressed. They are designed to be truly multi-disciplinary through experiential learning. They introduce skills and practices that have application to all fields.
