Course Description
Come study Multiculturalism in Israel, America, and Beyond, and gain new insight into the challenges facing contemporary American and global society, while developing your own understanding of your role and place within it.Israel is a small country, roughly the size and population of New Jersey. Yet, from its biblical origins to the present day, it has often served as a playground for global powers. It hosts vibrant and intense interactions among people of diverse religious, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, including socialists, conservatives, liberals, first- and second-generation immigrants, indigenous communities, long-established populations, and newcomers, as well as groups that are at times both friends and adversaries.
In this way, Israel reflects many of today’s most pressing global and American cultural debates. At times, looking at a distance allows us to see more clearly the challenges that stand directly before us.
