Our advisors are here to help you succeed, offering both academic and professional guidance for all enrolled Honors students. Each student is assigned an advisor who will help chart a personalized track for timely graduation and potential opportunities.

Schedule an Appointment

You should meet with your assigned advisor at least once per semester. To schedule an appointment with your advisor:

Login to your MyFIU account using your FIU credentials
Select Academic Advising
Select Go to Panther Success Network and login using your FIU credentials
In the top right of the page, select Schedule an Appointment
Choose Honors College Advising from the list of appointment types, then select your advisor and Honors Advising
Select the location (in-person advising is only offered at the MMC campus)
Select a date and time from the calendar
Write the reason for your appointment in the Additional Details box
Once finished, click Confirm Appointment

Virtual Drop-In

Honors College Advisors offer 10-minute Virtual Drop-in Advising sessions to address questions related to policies, procedures, or Honors or IDH course enrollment.

Drop-in sessions are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited by the number of students we can assist during the scheduled time. Wait times can vary and may be unable to meet with every student during drop-in hours.

To connect to a Drop-in session, you will need to log in with your FIU credentials, have your audio enabled and have your Panther ID number readily available.

Please note that full appointments with your assigned advisor are better suited for more in-depth conversation regarding topics such as graduate programs, career paths or application processes.

When am I assigned an Honors advisor?
Newly admitted Honors students are assigned an Honors advisor after the first couple of weeks of the Fall semester. Until then, Honors advising questions can be sent to hcadvising@fiu.edu
Can Honors Advisors give me course recommendations for my degree requirements?
Honors advisors only provide Honors course recommendations, not degree-specific recommendations. If you need degree-specific recommendations, we encourage you to contact your assigned major academic advisor via the Panther Success Network.
What Honors courses am I required to take?

Can I swap IDH1002 sections?
You cannot swap your IDH1002 sections.
What is the difference between IDH3034 and IDH3035?
The difference is which semester you take each class. IDH3034 takes place during Summer A and Fall while IDH3035 takes place during Summer B and Spring.

I am trying to enroll in a course, but it requires a permission code. What do I do?
Some Honors courses have specific requirements to be enrolled. Be sure to click on the class section notes to find out if there are specific requirements. If there are no specific requirements and it still requests a permission code, click continue without entering a code and it should allow you to enroll.
I am going to participate in a non-Honors Education Abroad program. How will that affect my Honors standing?
Please confer with your Honors advisor as soon as possible. All Honors policies would still be adhered to while studying abroad, including Honors Probation and Dismissal policies.
Who can I contact to discuss Engagement and Community Service requirements?
The Honors College has our very own Engagement Program Manager that you can direct any of your questions to as it relates to the requirements. You can contact them at hcengage@fiu.edu for any assistance or to schedule an appointment.
Do I get dismissed for not completing Honors Engagement and Community Service requirements?
If they are not completed, your class enrollment date will be delayed. If you do not complete both requirements during the academic year or semester you plan to graduate, you will not graduate through the Honors College.
I have an IN grade in an Honors course. What does that mean and how do I resolve it?
An incomplete grade (IN) is a temporary grade given by instructors for courses not completed due to a serious interruption. For more information on IN grades, please consult FIU OneStop’s Grading System page.
All Honors students are required to earn passing grades of “C” or higher in their Honors courses. Therefore, you will be deactivated as an Honors College student if the IN grade is not resolved within two semesters.
What if I no longer wish to be in the Honors College?
Please contact your assigned Honors advisor so they can provide you with the Honors College Early Exit form. Once it is filled out, they will process your early exit request.
