Honors College students must complete the Honors Curriculum that applies to their entry status. Students accepted as freshman and sophomores must complete 18-20 IDH credits, equivalent to three academic years. Students accepted as juniors or transfers must complete 12 IDH credits, equivalent to two academic years.
An academic year is defined as Fall and Spring semester.

Students who apply for undergraduate graduation via MyFIU after February 6, 2026 must contact hcgraduation@fiu.edu to be added to the Spring 2026 Honors College graduation review list. Participation in Honors College Graduation Assembly is not guaranteed for late applicants.
Graduation Policy
Students will graduate through the Honors College if they have met the following criteria:
- Completed all major and degree requirements for graduation from the University;
- Remained continuously enrolled in Honors courses until the semester of graduation or the completion of the Honors College curriculum (whichever comes first);
- Completed a minimum of six credits of Honors courses per year of enrollment in the College; maintained an overall minimum FIU GPA of 3.3 and Honors (IDH) GPA of 3.0;
- Remained in good standing by completing engagement pathway and volunteer service hour requirements every year at the Honors College.

Honors College graduates receive special recognition in three ways:
Transcript Notation
Graduating seniors receive a transcript notation indicating that they have “graduated through the Honors College.”
Honors College Graduation Assemblies each semester
Graduating seniors are recognized for completion of Honors College graduation requirements. Graduating seniors also receive the Honors College medallion and tassel at graduation.
University Commencement Exercises
The University grants special recognition to Honors College graduates at Commencement.
