  • Where to Pay

Program fees are posted on your MyFIU account. You may make payments in-person on campus, online, via wire transfer or via mail. For a full list of payment methods, please refer to FIU OneStop’s Ways to Pay

Although OneStop recommends paying online, we recommend paying in-person at the Student Financial cashier’s counter, so you can make sure your payments are covering Study Abroad fees. You are responsible for ensuring your payments are going to the correct fees.

  • What if I Was Awarded Financial Aid?

If you have been awarded financial aid, you are still responsible for making payments on time and in full. It is your responsibility to contact Financial Aid to ensure your awards are disbursed by the payment deadline and cover the full balance. If pending aid and scholarships will not cover the amount due, it is your responsibility to pay the remaining balance out of pocket by the listed deadlines.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What happens if I miss a payment?

If you miss a payment deadline, you will be withdrawn from the program and will not be allowed to travel with the program or participate in IDH 4007 or IDH 4008, depending on the time the payment was missed. Additionally, you will be fined a $100 late fee.

Refunds will not be awarded. Posted charges and late fees will not be removed.

  • What methods of payment are accepted?

Students make payments to Student Financials and MyFIU account. The Honors College does not accept payment. You can view acceptable methods of payment at FIU OneStop .

We highly recommend you pay in-person at the Student Financial cashier’s counter on campus as payments paid online may not go directly to Study Abroad program fees. The Office of Education Abroad and the Honors College are not responsible for late fees due to payment going to the wrong fees.

  • Are payments refundable?

No, all payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. Once you register, you are committed to your chosen program. Switching programs is not allowed.

If a student chooses to withdraw from a program after payment deadlines, all payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. Posted fees will not be removed.

  • Are there scholarships available for Study Abroad?

Yes, there are scholarship opportunities on our Study Abroad Costs & Aid page. If you are a U.S. citizen receiving a Federal Pell Grant, we highly recommend applying for Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship.

If you are paying through a scholarship, please note it is still your responsibility to have the payments for costs and tuition fees made by their deadlines and in full. You must contact the Financial Aid office to ensure they are complying with Study Abroad deadlines. Tuition fees must be paid by university deadlines, which you can find on the Academic Calendar.

If your scholarship will not cover the full amount due by the deadline, it will be your responsibility to pay the balance out of pocket.

  • If I am an out-of-state or international student, do I pay out-of-state tuition to study abroad?

No! All students pay in-state tuition rates for their Study Abroad credits.

  • Can I switch programs or move my participation date?

Once you register and commit to a program, switching programs is not allowed. If you still want to change programs, you will have to withdraw from the initial one, with no refunds. Then you would need to secure your spot in the new program, pay the $500 deposit again, and complete all the new program’s missing payments.

All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.

  • Do I get a refund if the program gets canceled?

If a program is canceled, you will receive a refund covering the program’s fee and the $500 deposit. Late fees will not be refunded or removed. Refunds for the $195 OEA fee will be at the Office of Education Abroad’s discretion.

You are responsible for fees or losses incurred in expenses not covered by the program fee, like airfare, which is why we recommend purchasing trip cancellation insurance.

Please note that program cancellation is the only case in which a refund will be made.
